It's obviously a case where the carpet has its own field of relative gravity. Anything within that field has the same relative gravity as the carpet, but reversed, so when gravity pushes down on the carpet, whatever is on it stays on, relative to the position of the underside of the carpet. Think of it like how Predators bend light around them to appear invisible, but with the carpet bending gravity around itself so that "down" is always through the pile of the carpet. Now, about Vampirella's outfit...
